Blackall Park stud
commenced in the late 1980’s, when Denis Crane began breeding
Showjumping and Dressage horses. Most of the earlier horses were by the
wonderful thoroughbred stallion Balmoral Boy
(pedigree available at www.allbreedpedigree.com/) Balmoral Boy was
owned by the late Mr Alec McIntosh. Many
outstanding horses were bred including Balmoral
Bill, Balmoral Gent,
Balmoral Ice, Balmoral Princess, Balmoral Duchess, Balmoral Rose
etc. Denis
Crane and Alec McIntosh decided to look for a Warmblood stallion to use
over the magnificent group of Balmoral
Boy mares that they then had.
In 1988 Denis Crane saw the beautiful grey stallion Daley K,
and was immediately impressed. (pedigree
available www.allbreedpedigree.com). Daley
K
was purchased in 1989 and began his stud career that year. Daley
K has a superb temperament which he imparts to his
progeny. He has
exceptional jumping ability and movement, and has proved his ability to
sire both top level showjumpers and dressage horses. Over the
next twenty years, many such horses have been bred, and the stud has
become nationally and internationally known.
Probably the best known of the Blackall Park horses is Warlord II. By Daley K from Balmoral Princess, Warlord II
represented Australia in the
final of the World Cup for Showjumping held in Las Vegas in April 2007.
(pedigree
available www.allbreedpedigree.com).
On his way to selection as Australia’s representative, Warlord II won five
consecutive World Cup
Qualifiers which we believe
to be a world record. Of
course there have been innumerable other great horses, many of which
having reached the higher grades in Australia have been exported. There
are now horses by Daley K
jumping with distinction in America, Canada,
Japan, and Korea. 2007 was an exciting year for Blackall Park, a World Cup finalist, and many other great performances by our horses throughout Australia. The year was topped off by a wonderful foaling result, nine healthy foals from nine mares to foal. 2008 saw an excellent showing of Daley K bred horses in the prestigious JWTS contested at Werribee Park in April. Glenara Bollinger, a Daley K granddaughter by Warlord II was awarded all age champion, after being the 6yo winner, and in the 5yo class both the winner, AEA Orox, and third place getter Caltango were from Daley K mares. Congratulations to the connections of these wonderful horses of the future. Another highlight for 2008 was the great win by Shae Hanger and Warwind (by Daley K) in the Garryowen at the Royal Melbourne Show. Warwind is the first Warmblood horse ever to win the event, and is fast becoming a legend in the show world. |
